Studying Dentistry in Malaysia

Dentistry is a rewarding, hands-on healthcare career, and Malaysia offers an English-taught route to it at a fraction of Western tuition. Malaysian dental schools pair a solid medical-science foundation with modern simulation labs and supervised clinical practice, so you build real chairside skills treating patients before you graduate.

As with medicine, dentistry is a regulated profession: an accredited Malaysian dental degree is widely respected, but to practise you'll register with the dental authority in your country of work — sometimes with additional exams. YSTC makes sure you understand that path from day one.

For international students, the appeal is the combination of a globally relevant, English-taught qualification, real affordability, and a welcoming place to live and study. Whatever you'd like to study, YS Training & Consultancy can help you choose the right Dentistry program, confirm the current official fees, and apply with confidence — talk to us free to get started.

A note on the numbers: fees, rankings and intake dates change over time. We always confirm the current official figures with the university before you apply.

Lo que estudiarás

A Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) trains you to diagnose and treat conditions of the teeth, gums and mouth. You'll study the basic medical sciences, then dental-specific subjects — oral anatomy, restorative dentistry, oral surgery, orthodontics and periodontics — and spend your later years treating real patients under supervision in dental clinics, supported by simulation labs.

Duración habitual

Around 5 years for the BDS, followed by supervised practice; specialisation adds further years.

Carreras y resultados

  • Dental surgeon / dentist (after registration)
  • Specialist dentistry (orthodontics, oral surgery and more) after further study
  • Public and community dental health
  • Dental research and academia
  • Roles in clinics, hospitals and private practice
Perspectiva profesional

Dentistry is a regulated profession, so practising requires registration with the dental authority in your country of work, sometimes with extra exams. Demand for dental care is steady and growing globally. YSTC will confirm the recognition and registration route for your destination.

Requisitos de ingreso

Requisitos de ingreso

  • A recognised pre-university qualification (STPM, A-Levels, foundation, matriculation, diploma, or equivalent)
  • Meet the minimum subject grades set by your chosen university
  • Meet the English language requirement for your chosen course
  • A foundation or pathway route is available if you don't yet meet direct-entry requirements

Requisito de inglés

Because dentistry is a clinical, patient-facing degree, English requirements tend to be on the higher side — many programs ask for IELTS around 6.5 (often with no individual band below 6.0) or an accepted equivalent, with the exact band set by each university. English and foundation pathways are available if you're not there yet. YSTC will confirm what your chosen course needs.
