About Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM)
Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) is a public technical university based in Parit Raja, Batu Pahat, in the state of Johor in southern Peninsular Malaysia. It began in 1993 as Pusat Latihan Staf Politeknik, grew into Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn in 1996 and then university-college status in 2000, and was promoted to full university status as UTHM in 2007. If you're drawn to engineering, technology or computing, UTHM is built for you. It specialises in producing engineers, technologists and technical professionals, with a niche in sustainable technology and transportation. Its engineering degrees are accredited by the Board of Engineers Malaysia under the Engineering Accreditation Council, and because Malaysia is a Washington Accord signatory, accredited engineering degrees are recognised across signatory countries including the USA, Australia, Canada and Japan. All programmes are MQA accredited, and UTHM is also a UNESCO Chair designation holder and a UNEVOC Network member. It appears in the QS World University Rankings 2026 (band 1001-1200), sits at #248 in QS Asia (2025), and holds a Top 3 position in Malaysia's MyMoheS rating.
For international students — drawn from many countries around the world — the appeal is a respected, hands-on technical education in an affordable part of Malaysia. UTHM also has a strong employability record, earning the Talentbank 6-Star Employer Choice Award (2026) in four fields of study and running a dedicated Centre of Career Advancement and Alumni to support graduates. Because UTHM is a public university, its fees are set officially and we don't guess at them here — whatever you'd like to study, YS Training & Consultancy can help you choose the right UTHM program, confirm the current official fees, and apply with confidence.
